Best choice for a short stay in Hakodate
This hotel was delightful. Great location close to the train station, morning market and walking distance to the main town. We paid for a larger room and it was well designed and a great size for two travelers with 3 suitcases - including a separate toilet, shower room and laundry. The lounge upstairs has a great view and is a nice spot to sit down to have a drink and read a book. The onsen is a huge plus. We were there during a blizzard and sitting in the hot outdoor onsen with wind and snow all around was spectacular. Highly recommend!
The staff speak very limited English, but it’s enough to get by. No real food options within the hotel itself but a Lawson and 7/11 are just around the corner so not far to go to get snacks.

High recommended for a short stay at Hokodate
- Location: cannot ask for more; just stepping out the railway station and looking right hand side, the hotel is right standing there in a stone's throw distance. Given that Hakodate is quite a small place for tourists, it's very convenient to reach all iconic sightseeing sites from the hotel. - Rooms: cleaning, well equipped and right sized. The view from the bathroom is definitely a bonus. - Onsen: although a bit small being a rootfop onsen pool, it's very chill experience to have the outdoor onsen with snows gently flying on the face. - Meals: the hotel offers the meal coupon of over 10 restaurants at Hokodate Morning Market Square with a wide variety of choices. - Environment: Very quiet and the seaside view esp. at night is so stunning.
It would be better if the front desk staff could have told us that daily room cleaning was not a norm in this hotel unless requested. Although this notice was marked on a guest card on the desk in our room, one usually would be expected to read the card line by line...
